This 35-minute webinar gives a general outline of the applicability of infrared spectroscopy in the field of chemistry. The speakers briefly explain the basics of FT-IR spectroscopy and the according techniques to obtain molecular information. The goal is to give the audience a clear overview of the possible applications of FT-IR spectroscopy in chemistry. There will be a moderated live Q&A session afterwards. Who should attend: - PhD students - University staff - Laboratory managers - Junior professors Topics discussed: - FT-IR fundamentals and measurement techniques - reaction tracings - Investigation of catalytic processes - Crystallinity and polymorphism - Spectroscopy in the glovebox - FT-IR microscopy About the speakers: Dr. Xia Stammer studied physical chemisty at Ruhr-Uni Bochum and KIT with a focus on surface functionalization and characterization. Dr. Simon Hugo Schlindwein studied chemistry at the University of Stuttgart with a focus on organic phosphorus and sulfur chemistry.
